The only goal is awareness
In my last blog I talked about the life which is examined is worth living. How the decision we took in our day to day life or some major decision depends upon the state of our brain 🧠 because "DECISION DOESN'T ARISE FROM CONSCIOUSNESS, THEY APPEAR IN CONSCIOUSNESS." ~ SAM HARRIS
Life is a series of choices and these choices bring meaning to our life. Individuals are free to choose their own path. Expectation of others, peer pressure or social norms. The decision on whether or not to follow such influences is merely another choice that the individual must make.
One can say " A man may be guided by others". But Sartre(existentialist) says that man himself has chosen to be guided by other. This decision is also taken by man himself. Here too he is free.
Whatever a man is upto present moment is not his real nature. Past can't determined his future. He is his future possibility and since future possibilities are not real at present, so he is not what he is.
Buddhism is also talked about changeable notion of soul that we are changing at every moment we're not the same person as we were. We all are changing at every moment, but we don't realize those changes within us and in our environment. But we realized those change when we met someone after a long gap. Because I become aware of myself when only others look at me. Others existence make me aware of myself. Take a small break and try to remember when you felt something like that 🤔🤔 when you suddenly become conscious about those changes...😇
Why this happened? Why we are not able to notice those changes?
IDENTITY COMMITMENT: plays a critical role in shaping our outer arc of awareness. What is noticed and what is not noticed?
Our own identity is a fundamental sifting mechanism by which perceptual data is focused on or discarded. we see things through our frame of reference. what we want to see rather than the complete picture.
Media sources try to influence our myopic response- ranging from short sightedness to near blindness.
Another way through which we form our identity is in relation to how we think of 'the other'(Snappy evaluations- product of our mind) we are sense-making creature but all too often in our mindlessness we Shut down the possibilities, believing the sense we have made of an event, or an experience was the only sense to be made.
Do you remember the experience of working on a problem or a puzzle that you were unable to solve🤯 but after taking a break, you subsequently obtained a solution😊🤩
What we really need to do is slow down, suspended our judgment. It's about process, not content just noticing what's going on rather than trying to make sense of it.
"MINDFULNESS PAYS ATTENTION TO THOSE SENSATION,AND IDENTIFY THE THINKING THAT GOES ALONG WITH IT."
